These terms govern your use of BasicCal. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

About BasicCal

BasicCal is a calorie and macronutrient tracking app for iOS. It is provided by HIO Labs Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), registered in Australia.

Important medical disclaimer

BasicCal is not a medical device. It does not provide medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. The nutrition data displayed in the app comes from Open Food Facts, a crowd-sourced third-party database. This data may be incomplete or inaccurate. Do not use BasicCal to diagnose, treat, or manage any medical condition. Always consult a qualified health professional before making significant changes to your diet.

Subscriptions and pricing

BasicCal offers an optional paid subscription called BasicCal Plus. Prices are shown in Australian dollars (AUD). If you are outside Australia, Apple will convert the price to your local currency. The actual amount charged may vary by region and is determined by Apple.

Annual subscription

• Price: $19.99 AUD per year.
• Includes a 30-day free trial for new subscribers.
• The subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid annual subscription.

Monthly subscription

• Price: $2.99 AUD per month.
• The annual plan saves 44% compared to twelve monthly payments.
• Auto-renews monthly unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.

Founding lifetime purchase

• Price: $29.99 AUD, one-time payment.
• Limited to the first 100 buyers. Non-renewing.
• Once all 100 are sold, this option is no longer available. If you attempt to purchase after they are gone, the transaction will not complete and you will not be charged.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel any subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to Plus features until then.

We do not process refunds. All refunds are handled by Apple under their refund policy.

Accounts

Opening BasicCal does not create an account. No account is required to track food. An account exists only so a purchase survives a reinstall or a new device.

Sign-in is by a one-time code sent to your email address. There are no passwords. You must be at least 16 years old to use BasicCal.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use BasicCal for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
• Interfere with or disrupt the app or its underlying infrastructure.
• Use automated means to access or scrape the app's data or services.

Intellectual property

BasicCal and its content, including text, graphics, and code, are owned by HIO Labs Pty Ltd or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your iOS devices. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our permission.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HIO Labs Pty Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of BasicCal, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim, or AUD $50 if you have not paid.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with the date it was last updated. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Apple standard EULA

Apple provides a standard End User License Agreement that applies to all apps distributed through the App Store. These custom terms supplement, and do not conflict with, Apple's standard EULA. In the event of any conflict, Apple's standard EULA prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
